CONFIDENCE

When you are going through a season what provides you the most confidence?

If you asked a coaches and players to answer that following question what do you think the majority of the response would be?  When we asked that question, but far the answer in some way pertains to the athlete's or team's performance.  Basing your confidence on performance is indeed where we get the concept of "momentum".  However, it is a two-edged sword.  If your performance is great, your confidence is high.  If it is bad, your confidence plummets.   The dilemma can be solved, however, by basing your confidence in character, not performance.  When you base confidence on inward qualities rather than outward abilities during competition you are able to create a stable basis for confidence.  In this training session, Hulings & Associates works with athletes and coaches alike to establish a training atmosphere that promotes character qualities for confident performance.

Topics Covered:

  •     What character qualities do you establish in practice sessions?
  •     When you hit a bad shot, run a bad play, or make a competitive mistake, where are      your thoughts?
  •     The root of character ... the fruit of competition
  •     Do you have the character to compete at a higher level?
